Travel

I've taken over 700 flights across six continents. Travel has been a constant thread through my life — and now it's part of my work.

The Origin Story

My obsession started early. At age 10, my dad had an emergency landing on an American Airlines flight from JFK to Buenos Aires. The airline compensated him with 200,000 AAdvantage miles. That moment introduced me to frequent flyer programs — and I've been hooked ever since.

I kept every boarding pass as a kid. I tracked every flight. When I moved to Sweden for my PhD, I finally had the means and opportunity to travel seriously. Being based in Europe with a salary in kronor, cheap flights everywhere, and conferences to attend — I optimized everything.

At the peak, I was taking 77 flights per year. One flight every 4-5 days.

AirLapse

In 2018, I started AirLapse — a travel blog and YouTube channel documenting my flights and sharing frequent flyer strategies.

What began as takeoff and landing videos evolved into detailed trip reports, credit card guides, and tutorials on maximizing miles and points. The channel has grown to 5,000+ subscribers and4 million views.

Highlights:

  • Was part of the SAS A350 Inaugural Flight from Copenhagen to Chicago — the first review on YouTube
  • My guide "How To Earn 1 Million SAS EuroBonus Points" reached 25,000 downloads in one year
  • Audience: 30% US, 30% Nordics, 30% Spanish-speaking, 10% Rest of World

SAS EuroBonus Millionaire Challenge

In 2024, I completed the SAS EuroBonus Millionaire Challenge — traveling around the world in 14 days, taking 23 flights across 6 continents. I was one of approximately 400 challengers(out of 50,000 participants) who earned 1 million EuroBonus points.

I documented the entire journey on my YouTube channel and the AwardFares blog.

My travel expertise led me to AwardFares, where I now lead growth. We build tools that help frequent flyers search for award availability across loyalty programs — making it easier to find and book flights with miles.

Viajero Frecuente
